How to Plan MOQ and Lead Time for Hotel Slippers
A straightforward way to plan the first order without slowing down the buying process.
Start with a pilot order
If the program is new, begin with a test order that validates comfort, packaging, and delivery timing. A pilot order reduces risk and gives the buyer a real sample of how the factory communicates and handles production details.
For standard disposable slippers, the opening MOQ can be around 500 pairs. Custom logo, packaging, or special materials usually push MOQ higher because setup and material sourcing are involved.
Understand why MOQ changes
MOQ is not a random number. It is affected by fabric minimums, logo setup, packaging printing, carton planning, and production line efficiency. A simple non-woven slipper can start lower than a custom embroidered spa slipper.
If your target quantity is below MOQ, ask the supplier what can be simplified. Removing custom packaging or using a stock material may lower the entry quantity.

Separate sample time from production time
Buyers often ask for lead time as one number, but custom projects have two stages: sample development and bulk production. Samples may take 5–7 days, while production can take 20–35 days after approval depending on style and quantity.
Shipping time is separate. If the order has a fixed delivery deadline, calculate sample approval, production, inspection, and freight together.
Plan around approval delays
The factory cannot start accurate bulk production until the sample is approved. Delayed feedback on color, logo, material, or packaging pushes the full schedule back. Internal buyer approval should be planned before the sample arrives.

Ask for lead time by scenario
Instead of asking for one lead time, ask the factory to quote separate timing for stock material, custom material, standard packaging, and custom printed packaging. This helps the buyer choose the right balance between speed and branding.
